Renowned as holy basil or tulsi, basil is originated in north India and is now widespread throughout southern Asia. It is used in Ayurveda medicines. Basil is so valued that it has the moniker "the elixir of life". The Shrub grows up to 2ft with green or purple aromatic leaves and small purple flowers.
