Copper slag is a byproduct of copper smelting and refining. It is a coarse, black, glassy material that is composed primarily of iron oxide and silica. Copper slag is generated during the production of copper metal from copper ore. The slag is removed from the furnace after it has cooled, and is composed of a mixture of metal oxides, silica, and other minerals.
